Garmin Announces Global Brand Partnership with the Wings for Life World Run
We are excited to announce today a global brand partnership with the Wings for Life World Run, a running and wheelchair event to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for spinal cord injury. To assist the race’s mission and to help bring awareness, Garmin will make a monetary contribution and release a special edition Wings for Life World Run vívofit 2 activity tracker. Designed to help develop healthy habits, the Wings for Life World Run vívofit 2 will encourage users to lead more active lifestyles while showing support for the race’s cause and its motto: running for those who can’t.
The Wings for Life World Run will be held in 35 locations worldwide on May 3. All proceeds from the race go directly to Wings for Life, a not-for-profit spinal cord research foundation.
“For more than 10 years Garmin wearables have helped motivate athletes in their health and fitness journeys,” said Jon Cassat, Garmin’s vice president of communications. “As a part of the fitness community we are incredibly proud to have the opportunity to partner with the Wings for Life World Run and assist their cause through contribution, a special edition vívofit 2, encouragement of associate and sponsored athlete participation and more.”
The Wings for Life World Run is a running and wheelchair event for athletes of all abilities with no finish line or set distance. All local races start simultaneously at 11 am UTC, and 30 minutes later Catcher Cars start to chase the racers until they pass all of the participants and end their race. The last female and male participants to be caught by the Catcher Cars are awarded the title of global Wings for Life World Run champions.
