GARMIN SOLAR

Garmin Solar Powered Smart Wearables

Garmin’s breakthrough Power Glass solar charging lens technology puts our range of outdoor and sports smart watches in a class of their own. Take it to the mountain top or ocean deep, it will draw upon the sun’s power to power you to greater feats.

Power Glass
Empowered by
Solar Lens Technology

Garmin’s Power Glass system has shaken up decades of stagnant solar panel technology. By replacing previous solar panels with a super-transparent glass lens, we have created devices built for extreme outdoor adventure. Garmin successfully integrated microscopic solar conducting cells into a glass panel less than half a millimeter thick. This means that the panel can effectively capture photoelectricity while still being highly transparent and indistinguishable from regular watch faces when viewed with the naked eye. Combined with Memory-in-Pixel (MIP) display technology, this produces a clear and legible screen suitable for smart wearable devices, maintaining high clarity and low power usage even under direct sunlight.

Global Innovation:
Solar charging
even when covered

Traditional solar panels stop charging as soon as direct sunlight is obscured. Garmin’s innovative solar panel technology has rearranged the panel’s conducting cells in a new design that allows charging to continue even when the panel is partially obscured. This means you can enjoy the outdoors without worrying whether your wearable device is getting a full charge.

Multiple Patents deliver Industry
Best 5X Power

Garmin has over 30 patented solar charging technology. By using advanced ultra-thin wafer manufacturing and selecting only the highest quality conductive materials, we achieve unsurpassed charging efficiency. This allows our devices to reach a solar conversion rate five times higher than the industry standard. * Maximum power (Pmax) differs between devices, please refer to each device for its standard power output.

Prolonging battery life to protect life on our planet

Vertically integrated design to maximize power saving

Garmin chooses the most energy efficient elements for each watch’s casing, components, battery and sensors (e.g. accelerometer, gyroscope, electronic compass, barometer, PulseOx sensors, etc.). We pack a system optimized for maximum impact and minimum energy usage into a watch less than 1.4 inches in size.

Power Manager system lets you control power usage

Our highly customizable Power Manager system allows you to deactivate features that are energy intensive or that you are not using for the moment to dynamically adjust the device’s energy usage. This lets you monitor and control energy usage for all kinds of different situations.

Carbon emissions of 59 per cent less than other Garmin watches *This figure is derived from usage data over a full year, while outdoor exploration mode is activated.
